‘BOATLIFT: An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience’

To commemorate the 14th anniversary of September 11th, here is a documentary of heroes.

The largest maritime evacuation in history took place on 9/11 as hundreds of vessels converged on the waterfront to rescue half a million people trying to escape Lower Manhattan.

“BOATLIFT: An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience” is a 12-minute documentary, released in 2011, that tells the story of the courageous mariners who rushed to the seawall to ferry as many people as they could to safety. Directed by Edward Rosenstein and Rick Velleu and narrated by Tom Hanks, this inspiring short documentary honors the tremendous effort made by the heroes of the water.
